Marketing Academy to create leaders of the future launched
A Marketing Academy, backed by the UK’s most senior Marketing Directors, is launched today to help create the next generation of industry leaders.
The Academy will enable 25 young marketers to receive free world class mentoring, development and input from leading individuals and companies from across the industry.
Individuals must be nominated by their employer and then complete a rigorous selection procedure before being accepted into the Academy for their part time, 12-month learning experience.
From today, business leaders and marketing directors have 4 weeks to nominate their brightest stars for a place on this ground-breaking programme
Over 50 industry-leading mentors have all agreed to give their time for free, including CEOs, CMO’s and MDs of both agency and client companies, trade organisations and academia.
The mentors include Sally Cowdry, UK Marketing Director of O2, Phil Rumbol, Marketing Director of Cadbury, Robert Senior, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Fallon Group, Mark Lund, CEO of the COI, Andy Fennell, CMO of Diageo and Helen Kellie of BBC Worldwide.
Inspirational
The Academy is the brainchild of Sherilyn Shackell, the Head of the UK’s Marketing Hall of Legends.
Sherilyn Shackell said: “The Marketing Academy aims to inspire and develop the absolute best marketing talent of today to become the industry leaders of tomorrow. I have been amazed and delighted by the support we have received from all our mentors and supporters, and cannot wait to begin the work of welcoming the scholars in as they embark upon their development journey across the year.”
Success
Mentor and Trustee Phil Rumbol, UK Marketing Director, Cadbury, commented:
“The notion of leadership within marketing is absolutely critical. A programme such as the Academy is offering is not just a wonderful opportunity for those who receive a place, it is also vital to ensure the continued success of British companies in this field.”
Investing in talent
Sally Cowdry, UK Marketing Director, O2 said:
“At O2, we are a customer and marketing led organisation and growing the skills and capability of our marketing people is a key priority. Our support for the Academy is part of O2′s commitment to investing in and developing the talent of the future. A very interesting programme, I’m just wondering why it is open only to UK Passport Holders… it looks like a pretty discriminative practice to me
