London football club recognised for exceptional online community building
Interactive media publisher, New Media Age (NMA) has recognised Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) as leaders in website marketing.
The Premier League club has a website noted for exceptional content.
The official Spurs website offers valuable content to the ‘true fan’, a recent report stated, underpinning its commitment to providing an ever-increasing supporter-base with relevant, tangible information.
Spurs are currently placed 4th in the Premier League table and, with an FA Cup quarter-final replay against fellow top-tier outfit, Fulham, to look forward to, the club is hoping success online will be replicated on the pitch.
Micro-site marketing
The most prolific element of the Spurs website is the ‘kit micro-site’, which was built by integrated marketing agency, Bluhalo, to whom this was their first online-only kit launch, with the key objectives to drive sales, create word-of-mouth buzz and to provide a measurable ROI. The campaign achieved a highly stimulating and much sought-after brand experience coupled with real commercial success. It achieved 99% ROI within 24 hours.
A spokesman for Bluhalo said: “A lot of dedication and passion went into the redesign of the latest version of the Spurs website and we’re really pleased to see our expertise and efforts rewarded!”
Additional content
The NMA Site of the Week review concluded that: “With plenty of links to sites promoting sports gear, games consoles and lager, the Spurs website is aimed at 16-35-year-old men. It also features links to retailers of official club merchandise and provides information on the club’s corporate hospitality services. All standard fare for football sites but Tottenham’s is notable for its local emphasis.”
